Bryce Canyon Half: 1:28 Provo Canyon Half: 1:30 Short-Term Running Goals: I missed it again! In shooting for my first sub three marathon, I came across the St. George Utah Marathon finish line at 3:05:05! So a few things I learned. 1) I need to be at 60 miles a week for at least four weeks leading up to the race. 2) Don't injure myself 3) Carry my own GU 4) Hydrate better on the days leading up to the race 5) Stop showing up 5 minutes late to everything "Where else does this show up in your life?" The good news...I haven't been late to anything since the marathon. My boss really likes the new me!
Long-Term Running Goals: Stay healthy and enjoy running.
Personal: My wife is Yogirunner mom. She is amazing. We have two wonderful daughters. |

| | So, this is supposed to be tapering week for the St. George Marathon. I felt I needed one more long run. Because I have been recovering from shin splints I have not hit the miles that I wanted to lately. My brother Danny and I have run the marathon course 3 times together over the last few weeks. I love it! Great time to talk about life and things with him. We averaged a 7:50 pace. My marathon pace is going to be a 6:40-6:45. So I am praying that I can maintain that pace for that distance. I think I can, but I know it will be a hard recovery. |

| | Running in my Saucanys. Letting my Brooks rest for the big race on Saturday. Did 6 miles this morning with 4 tempo miles. 6:40, right where I want to be for the Marathon 6:20 / 6:30 / and 6:53. Felt good. Just listened to my breathing and payed attention to stride, pace and cadence. Realized that I breath out on my right foot strike, and in on the next right foot strike. Sound like fast breathing but I felt okay. It felt like I had three steps for breathing out and two steps for in. I think my heart rate is between 140 and 160 at that pace. I have checked it just using my watch and putting two fingers on my neck. Not very precise I know. Well, off to get another 8 hours of sleep! |
